Meet Cole Crosland
Owner & Tennessee State Licensed Contractor No. 77357
Hey, I'm Cole Crosland! I'm the owner of Crosland Construction, and I want to tell you a little about how we started. I'm married to my beautiful wife, Laney Crosland, and we have two crazy goldendoodles. We live in Sparta, TN and have lived here our whole lives.
The small town of Sparta, TN has been my home for as long as I can remember. I graduated from White County High School, then traveled 30 minutes to Tennessee Tech University where I earned a B.S. in Marketing in 2020. Laney and I have been sweethearts since the 8th grade, and we got married soon after I graduated.
We are both believers in Jesus Christ and our faith is very important to us. We attend First Baptist Church in Sparta and are very thankful for everything God has blessed us with. A few of my hobbies are sports, jiu jitsu, hunting, and fishing. I also love woodworking and building just about anything.
Where It All Began
It started with my grandpa, Larry Frasier, building a few houses in 1990. He built small 1,000-1,400 square foot houses with no garage and put them up for sale. He was successful at this and continued to build more houses throughout his career. While he wasn't a full-time builder, this set a path for my dad and uncles later on in life.
My dad, Bill Crosland, was a school teacher and basketball coach at Powell High School. With a single income and being gone for games and practice in the evenings, there was little time left for family. My grandpa saw this and offered Bill a job in Sparta.
In 2002, my parents decided to pack up and move us to Sparta, TN to be closer to my grandparents. Bill started working with Larry and my two uncles, clearing land, working on houses, and buying and selling property. After a while, they began to enjoy building new construction homes, and Bill slowly transitioned into being a full-time home builder in Sparta.

Growing Up in Construction
I grew up picking up job sites and sweeping subfloors with my brother. When we were out of school, we would go and work with the framers, help build decks, install door knobs, or anything else dad made us do. I still remember being in awe when the crane would come to set trusses, I couldn't believe my dad got to work with cranes and big machines! Dad was great at his job and everyone loved him. He was able to talk with people like he had known them his whole life. He gradually moved to being more of a custom home builder in Cookeville, Sparta, and other nearby areas. He did this and built homes to sell for close to 15 years. In 2017, when I was a senior in high school, dad tragically passed away and mom was forced to take over the business. Thankfully, she had been helping in the business doing the books and designing the homes, so she had a good idea how to manage it. My uncles, Mark Frasier and Stephen Holland, both helped her tremendously during this time. While it was a steep learning curve for her, she was better than I will ever be at it. She built some of the best-looking homes in White County. During this time, I was also able to learn how to run the business. I would go to class at Tennessee Tech and then after, I would go work on the houses with Mom. I also worked for both of my uncles and Laney's dad, Robert Oakes, who also builds houses, doing small jobs for them.
Crosland Construction Today
Continuing a family legacy of quality homes at reasonable prices
When I graduated college in 2020, Mom was wanting to get out of the business and move on to something new. Since building was all I knew, I took over the business in 2021. We changed the name to Crosland Construction Company, LLC and have been trying to keep the reputation my family has had for over 20 years, building quality homes for reasonable prices.
I come from a family of builders. My father and mother, my uncles, and even my father-in-law are residential contractors. During high school and college, I worked alongside my family framing, building, and learning. I have been around construction my entire life and can't imagine doing anything else.
Now I am a Tennessee State Licensed Contractor dedicated to building the best homes Sparta has to offer, while improving and learning daily. If I'm not building new homes, you might find me in a treestand (or a duck blind), at church, or spending time with my family.
